On Thursday 21 June, we welcomed a group of senior parishioners from Holy Ghost Church to visit us at Oliver House for Afternoon Tea. Year 6 children prepared a wonderful tea with sandwiches, scones and cakes. They followed this by entertaining their guests with singing, instrumental recitals and presenting stories from their recent trip to Rome. After tea, everyone visited the school chapel which was enjoyed immensely by all and the children were very proud to show the visitors around their school. The parishioners were very complimentary about the ‘beautiful manners’ of the pupils.
The tea was a wonderful opportunity to meet people from our local community and contribute to the ‘culture of encounter’ which Pope Francis has been encouraging us all to develop recently. It was a very enjoyable afternoon and a good time was certainly had by all!
