Oakwood School in Purley, Surrey

Oakwood is an independent school for boys and girls from ages 2 – 11. Founded in 1996 with just 17 pupils it now has about 180 on roll from Nursery through to Year 6.

PACT owns the freehold of the purpose-built school, which boasts 9 large classrooms, a sports hall, a chapel and outdoor sports and play facilities.

The faculty comprises 10 full time teachers, 5 additional specialist teachers and 5 peripatetic teachers. This allows for specialist subject teaching from Year 3 upwards.

A key feature of the education at Oakwood is the tutorial system. From the age of 7 years each child is assigned a tutor who meets with them every 2 weeks. These fortnightly sessions are designed to help each child discover his or her personal strengths and weaknesses, and to find practical ways to improve, both at home and school.

Virtually all Oakwood pupils are accepted into the schools of their first choice and their strong performances in entrance examinations have resulted in many scholarships and offers of places from the finest secondary schools in the region.
